#velcombegom: the first valenki run in Minsk

Minsk citizens today gathered for a winter valenki run. Such an unusual activity was organized in Dreamland on the eve of a large scale charitable project #velcombegom Winter Running Games.
Runners wearing valenki covered a distance of 1 km in order to demonstrate their interest in winter open air runs .About 100 participants of all ages including families and their kids joined the initiative. The most junior runner is just 1.5 years.
It was a symbolic and informal valenki run. The start line was organized at the light installation point that created a special atmosphere and entourage while the first 50 guys registered for the event got Belarusian made valenki as a present. Hot tea was served in order to stay warm.
According to the general idea valenki run aims at drawing Belarusians attention to the charitable project #velcombegom Winter Running Games taking place from 9 to 11 February.
«For the first time ever #velcombegom is organized during wintertime. This time we will render support to schools training children members of the reserve for the Belarusian Paralympic team. That is why it is symbolic that our project starts on the same day with Winter Olympic Games in South Korea, - noted Vyacheslav Smirnov, head of velcom PR. – We welcome all volunteers to join our run and post the distance in any social network. Every kilometer will be converted into rubles and forwarded in aid to children».
#velcombegom Winter Running Games are organized from 9 to 11 February. All participants will be figuratively split into two teams: those who run outdoor and indoor. Participation requires a snapshot of the result displayed on the treadmill screen or any fitness app with the date, distance and hashtag #velcombegom and #in the gym (for indoor runners) or #velcombegom and #outdoor (for those who run outdoor).
Every km of the winning team velcom will convert into 2 rubles, and 1 ruble for the second best team. All funds raised on the run will be transferred to a boarding school for children with vision impairments in Molodechno and sanatorium boarding school for children suffering scoliosis. Funds raised are planned to be spent on sports equipment and re-equipment of the stadium used by both schools.
