A massive run on treadmills in Minsk

The most massive Belarusian run on treadmills organized in Mir Fitnesa became a kick off of a charitable project #velcombegom: Winter Running Games aimed at support of Belarusian sportsmen and aid to handicapped children.
velcom representatives, director and students of Molodechno boarding school for children with vision impairments, representatives of the Directorate of II European Games were among participants of the run on treadmills.
Winter Running Games symbolically start simultaneously with the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang. «Any volunteer irrespective of the age and level of training can participate in the initiative free of charge and run any distance outdoor or indoor thus making a contribution in aid to children.
«This time according to terms and conditions all participants of #velcombegom can run either outdoor or indoor in a gym. Today the most massive run was organized in Mir Fitnesa in the largest in Belarus cardio area with 62 treadmills wherein participants jointly have covered about 300 kms that will be added to overall result of indoor team», – commented Vyachelaslav Smirnov, head of velcom PR.
According to Director of Molodechno boarding school for children with vision impairments Natalia Glinskaya all funds raised as a result of the initiative are planned to be used for modernization of the sports stadium: «It all depends on the results of course. But we would like to build a minifoootball area and if possible an artificial turf and grandstand».
Winter by Belarusian band J:MORS as anthem of the project was performed during the massive run. Vladimir Pugach, front man of the band, was happy to be a part of #velcombegom. «Promotion of healthy lifestyle combines perfectly with the charitable initiative!».
Winter Running Games are organized by velcom under auspices of Paralympic Committee of Belarus. This initiative is aimed at aid to children, promotion of healthy lifestyle and cultivation of running culture in Belarus.
In order to participle in the project during the period from 9 to 11 February one needs to take an indoor or outdoor run, a snapshot of the result displayed on the treadmill screen or any fitness app with the date and kms covered and hashtag it #velcombegom and #in the gym (for indoor runners) or #velcombegom and #outdoor (for those who run outdoor). Everyone’s contribution irrespective of the distance and location will be taken into account.
