Jul 24, 2017

On Saturday 22 July the third concert within the framework of the festival Classic Music at Cityhall together with velcom named Tour de Classique took place. The entire night was devoted to the 25th anniversary of French - Belarusian diplomatic relations. The concert was opened by the representatives of French embassy while the Eiffel Tower installed at the Cityhall became the symbol of the concert. It was mounted on the eve of the concert for everyone to take a chance to become a part of the process and pin a wish flag.

“Music is a part of life that gives us a unique opportunity to understand the history and modernity of diverse cultures and countries, - comments Vyacheslav Smirnov, head of velcom PR. It allows us to simultaneously learn variety and commonality of the big world. The festival symbolically became a center point of unification and establishment of common cultural environment that today brings two countries closer to each other, i.e. France and Belarus».

A vibrant history of a music country was performed on the stage of Classic Music at Cityhall together with velcom by the National Chamber Orchestra of the Republic of Belarus and an invited guest from France, baritone Olivier Heyte. Solo, ensemble, and orchestral pieces by Jean-Philippe Rameau, Gabriel Faure, Claude Debussy created an ambience of French splendor in Minsk city centre.

“Embassy of France supports and carries out an abundance of cultural projects in Belarus. We for the first time partner with Classic Music at Cityhall together with velcom and I cannot but note that classic French music performed in the very heart of Minsk is one of the best examples of active cultural dialogue between two countries. I am very pleased to state that French music concert in Minsk devoted to the 25th anniversary of French- Belarusian diplomatic relations was visited by massive number of people and the atmosphere of happiness and unity at Cityhall once again proves importance of classic culture, - commented Inna Matsienko, cultural coordinator of embassy of France in Belarus.

A special contest was announced for all guests of the festival for pictures taken at any of the concerts Classic Music at Cityhall together with velcom with hashtag #классикасвелком. Best shots as a result of the contest will be presented at the exhibition at Minsk citycentre. Classic Music at CItyhall together with velcom is organized by Minsk City Municipality under the auspices of velcom as well as concert agency Equilibrium Arts.
