

The Melofon service will allow you to set a melody or a voice message (an audio file) during sounding of a standard signal of ringing control. You can surprise everyone who calls to your mobile number. The mood of your friends and acquaintances calling you will become better before you answer the call. They will hear a melody you like – the latest music hit, a composition of your favourite singer, a comic text or your own greeting! You can also set a melody for playing during your calling according to numbers of velcom subscribers which have been chosen by you.
The service is available for all FE “VELCOM” subscribers.
How it works
For the service activation you are to choose any of the variants as follows:
- key in *424 # and a call key;
- call at number 424;
- send an SMS at number 424 with RBTON text;
- register on the web-portal www.melofon.by and then follow the offered instructions.
There is a catalogue of various audio files on the web-portal www.melofon.by. Thanks to this catalogue you can make your own personal list. The quantity of melodies and voice messages which can be added into the personal list is not limited.
Note! To get the access to the catalogue you should register on the site as follows www.melofon.by and take the advantage of a bookmark of SUBSCRIBER MELODIES.
After the service activation, a velcom melody will be set as default for your subscriber number. The melody will be played for all velcom subscribers who make calls to your number.
You can replace the melody set as default for a melody from the catalogue, your own melody or for a voice message.
The service management
To manage the service means to choose and set melodies you can with the help of the following methods:
- by means of the USSD-menu *424 # and a call key;
- by means of SMS-requests at number 424 (you can get acquainted with the list of commands below);
- by means of the voice portal having dialed number 424;
- via the web-portal www.melofon.by
Having taken the advantage of one of the offered methods and following further instructions, you can:
- order a melody or a pack of melodies;
You can order a pack of several melodies at once at a special price. There can be melodies of one or various price categories in the pack. These melodies can be with the term of validity or with no fixed term.
After ordering and saving the melody into your personal list, each melody in the pack is extended and paid for separately according to the price category. Removal of such melodies from the personal list is also carried out separately.
- set a melody as default;
- generate the personal list of melodies;
- activate or deactivate the jukebox function;
- order a melody for a friend;
It is possible to order a melody for a friend provided that they are velcom subscribers as well and they have the Melofon service activated. A subscriber for whom a melody or a voice message is chosen will receive an SMS-notification about the presented melody. Melody addition to the personal list of the friend will occur after receiving an SMS that confirms the consent to accept a present. The waiting time of an SMS with confirmation makes no more than 24 hours*.
Regardless of whether the present has been accepted, the order of the melody is paid for by the subscriber who makes the order.
Extension of the term of validity of a melody is paid for by the subscriber who has the melody in the personal list.
* - to present a friend a melody from the subscriber personal list of melodies is possible only under the condition that the melody is in the melodies catalogue of the Melofon service at the moment of order.
- order a melody for two.
It is possible to order a melody for two provided that both of them are velcom subscribers and they have the Melofon service activated. The service cost will be written off at once from the balance of the subscriber who has made the order and then the melody will be added to the personal list. An SMS-notification about the presented melody will be sent to a second subscriber. After the second subscriber confirms the consent to accept an audio file by means of an SMS, the melody will be added to the personal list and they will have this melody set when calling each other. The pending term of an SMS with confirmation makes no more than 24 hours.
Extension of the term of validity of a melody is paid for by the subscriber who has the melody in the personal list.

The term of validity of the melody
You can order melodies with no fixed term as well as melodies with the term of validity.
Melodies with no term of validity will be stored in your personal list while you do not remove them or do not deactivate Melofon.
You can find out about the term of validity of a melody before the order by means of voice portal 424, USSD-menu *424 # and on the site as follows www.melofon.by.
It is possible to find out about quantity of remaining days before the expiry of the term of validity of the melody from the personal list with the help of voice portal 424 and on the site as follows www.melofon.by.
If you want to extend a melody with the term of validity, this will be automatically done after the specified term and the cost of the Extension of the term of validity of a melody service will be written off from your balance.
If the subscriber has outgoing and/or incoming calls disconnected at the moment of the expiry of the term of validity of the melody or the sum on the balance is insufficient to render the service of extension of the term of validity of the melody then the melody will be removed from the personal list.
You can remove a melody with the limited term of validity at any moment by means of the voice portal, an SMS, the USSD-menu, the web-portal.
Note! Using voice portal 424 and the USSD-menu, you can give a command on automatic removal of a melody from the personal list after its term of validity.
Recording of your own audio file
You can record your own message by means of voice portal 424 and also load your favourite melody into the personal list through the web-portal www.melofon.by.
The loaded file should satisfy the following parameters:
- audio format – a-Law, file extension – wav, frequency of digitization – 8kHz, size of an audio-sample – 8 bits, channel – mono, duration – less than 40 sec, size of the file – less than 350 kB. Loudness level should not exceed -12 dB. Recommended level of the signal is -14 dB.
In order to convert your own file into the format supported by Melofon service please use the free SW "Melofon-Convertor" .
If some parameters of the loaded audio file do not satisfy the technical requirements then the service cost will be written off from your balance, however FE “VELCOM” does not guarantee correct playing of the melody.
Note! The content of the recorded and loaded audio file should not contradict the requirements of the legislations of the Republic of Belarus. The subscriber bears full responsibility for the content of audio files according to the legislation of the Republic of Belarus.
It is categorically forbidden:
- To distribute information which contains and/or it can be treated as: insult, threatening; obscene information, vulgar, menacing, disrespectful, causing hatred; information connected with crimes, cruelty, violence, elements of offensive language in any way; information breaking the rights of the third parties; information breaking Copyright Act and allied rights of the Republic of Belarus; information advertising the goods and services; information breaking the current legislation of the Republic of Belarus.
- To distribute political appeals of any orientation and political slogans focused on discredit of the government and its separate representatives.
- To distribute information discrediting honour and dignity of the President of the Republic of Belarus, heads of the state authority whose status is ascertained by the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus as well as physical persons and organizations of any forms of ownership.
- To place information encroaching upon morality, honour and dignity of citizens, information contradicting the standard norms of morality.
- To distribute ideas of terrorism, religious, social, national and racial intolerance, discrimination and disagreement.
- To place the data which are the state secret or another secret specially protected by the law.
- To propagandize consumption of narcotic and psychotropic preparations, alcohol, tobacco smoking.
- To place information containing an appeal to fulfillment of actions which are punishable according to administrative and criminal order.
- To place information on sexual services, pornography, announcements of an obvious sexual orientation.
- To place information on employment (training) of citizens abroad.
- To place announcements of rendering of services which are subject to the state licensing.
- To use offensive language.
Outgoing Melofon
To set an audio file for sounding during your outgoing call to a subscriber number in the network of velcom, you are to add this number into the OUTGOING Melofon item on the site as follows www.melofon.by and then set a melody for it. Different melodies can be chosen for each number!
It is possible to set a melody for outgoing calls only for 50 subscriber numbers in the network of velcom.
The rules of playing of melodies / voice messages
You can make settings for playing melodies with the help of the web-portal as follows www.melofon.by.
Add a subscriber number in the GROUP AND SUBSCRIBER NUMBERS list to create rules of playing on the web-portal. While calling from the number specified by you in the rule, a subscriber will hear the melody set for him or her.
If you activate the jukebox function then the melodies or voice messages chosen by you from the personal list will be played in a random order.
It is possible to set an audio file for incoming calls for:
- one subscriber;
- one subscriber and the time of the day;
- one subscriber and the day of the week;
- one subscriber and the date;
- a group of subscribers;
- a group of subscribers and the time of the day;
- a group of subscribers and the day of the week;
- a group of subscribers and the date.
Note! The melody is played provided that the phone of the subscriber is in the standby mode and the network of velcom is found.
Operation of the Melofon service is not guaranteed if subscribers of other mobile operators as well as fixed networks call you.
The service is also available being in roaming. You cannot call at number 424 being in roaming.
The service is available for PRIVET subscribers in the status of “Outgoing calls ban” provided that you have the sum on your balance which is equal or exceed the cost of the service. The service is not available in the status of “Blocking” and if there is not the sum which is equal or exceed the cost of the service on the personal account.
After deactivation of the Melofon service you can activate the service with all options and melodies from the personal list for free within 30 days. Thus the melodies the term of validity of which has expired at the moment of the service restoration will be removed from your personal list.

- Whether it is possible to set a melody not having the Melofon service activated?
First it is necessary to activate the service by means of the methods specified above.
- What melody is set as default after the service activation?
“A velcom melody”.
- How is it possible to set a melody for sounding during outgoing calls?
For this purpose on the site as follows www.melofon.by add subscriber numbers to the list of melodies for OUTGOING Melofon and choose a melody for them. Addition of each new number to the list for outgoing Melofon is paid for according to the company’s tariffs.
- In what cases a set melody plays instead of a standard call signal?
The melody plays provided that the phone of the subscriber is in the standby mode and the network of velcom is found. The melody or voice message sounds against the background of a standard signal of ringing control. Operation of the Melofon service is not guaranteed if subscribers of other mobile operators as well as fixed networks call you. If the melody is full of musical instruments sometimes there can be hindrances in the form of hissing in dynamics of a telephone set during playing the melody.
- In what browsers correct work of the site www.melofon.by is provided?
The site www.melofon.by provides correct display of data while using the Internet Explorer browser (version 5.0 and later editions).
- What is a pack of melodies? Why is it profitable for me to get a pack of melodies?
A pack means three melodies of one or various price category which you order simultaneously. Thus you pay less for a pack than if ordered the same melodies separately. It is necessary to consider that after addition of a melody from the pack to the personal list of the subscriber, the melody can be with no fixed term or have the term of validity which will be extended and paid for separately according to the price category of the melody.
- Can I order a pack if a melody from the pack is in my personal list already?
In this case you cannot order a pack of melodies.
- Whether it is possible to use my own melody in Melofon?
Yes, it is. You can load a melody to the personal list through the web-portal as follows www.melofon.by as well as record your own voice message by means of voice portal 424.
- Whether there are any certain requirements to a loaded file?
The loaded file should satisfy the following parametres:
- an audio format – a-Law,
- extension – wav,
- frequency of digitization – 8kHz,
- size of an audio-sample – 8 bits,
- channel – mono,
- duration – less than 60sec,
- size of the file – 600 kB, loudness level should not exceed -12 dB,
- recommended level of the signal is -14 dB.
While recording a message via the voice portal or file loading via the web-interface you bear responsibility for the content of a melody or message according to the legislation of the Republic of Belarus. In order to avoid misunderstandings it is recommended to get acquainted with the information on the restrictions concerning messages loaded to the personal list before file loading.
- Whether I can present my own audio file to a friend?
Your own voice messages and melodies are added to your personal list and cannot be presented to another subscriber.
- How long is it possible to use the ordered melody?
Melodies with no fixed term and with the term of validity which makes 30 days are available for the order. The melodies with no fixed term are in your personal list while you do not remove them or do not deactivate the Melofon service. Removal of melodies with the term of validity from the personal list happens in two cases: if the term of validity has not been extended automatically or if subscribers give a command on melody removal on their own.
- What happens to a melody after expiry of the term of its validity?
The term of validity extends automatically. The cost of the Extension of the term of validity of a melody service will be written off from your balance. If you have outgoing and/or incoming calls disconnected at the moment of expiry of the term of validity or the sum on your balance is insufficient to render the service of extension of the term of validity then the melody will be removed from the personal list. You can also remove a melody with the limited term of validity at any moment by means of any interface of the Melofon service management (the voice portal, an SMS, the USSD-menu, the web-portal) or you can give a command on automatic removal of a melody from the personal list after its term of validity using the voice portal.
- How can I find out the term of validity of a melody?
This can be done with the help of:
- Whether it is possible to change a melody set as default on my own?
Yes, it is. You can set any melody from the personal list of the subscriber by means of USSD, the voice portal, an SMS, the web-portal.
- How many melodies can there be in my personal list?
The quantity of melodies is not limited.
- Whether it is possible to set the rules of playing the melodies according to incoming calls from separate subscribers and groups of subscribers?
Yes, it is. It can be done via the web-portal as follows www.melofon.by.
- What rules of playing can be set on www.melofon.by?
a) It is possible to set a melody for sounding for one subscriber during outgoing calls;
b) When other subscribers call to your number you can choose a melody for sounding and set it for:
- one subscriber;
- one subscriber and the time of the day;
- one subscriber and the day of the week;
- one subscriber and the date;
- a group of subscribers;
- a group of subscribers and the time of the day;
- a group of subscribers and the day of the week;
- a group of subscribers and the date.
- How many playing rules is it possible to set for one subscriber who calls to my number?
It is possible to set several playing rules of the same type: either for the period of the day, for the date or for the day of the week. For example, if the same subscriber calls you from 11 a. m. to 12 p. m. than one melody will play and while calling from 1 p. m. to 5 p. m. then another melody will play.
- How many groups can one subscriber who calls to my number be a member of?
One subscriber either can be a member of one group only or not be a member of any of the groups at all.
- What priority of playing of audio files exists provided some groups with different rules of playing are set?
The priority will be as follows:
1) A melody for an outgoing call
2) Playing rules
3) The jukebox
4) A melody as default
- How to add melodies to the jukebox?
If you have the jukebox function activated than after the order of a melody it will get there automatically. Further you can edit the content of the jukebox on your own by means of voice portal 424, USSD-menu *424# or the web-portal as follows www.melofon.by.
- When melodies from the jukebox start to play?
After the activation of the jukebox function melodies from the jukebox start to play in a random mode during each incoming call.
- What happens to melodies added to the personal list?
After addition of melodies to the personal list subscribers should set the rules of their playing on their own. The melodies ordered by the subscriber are saved to the personal list during the time of using the Melofon service until the subscriber does not remove them or they are not removed in connection with expiry of the term of their validity.
- From what account is the cost of the melody which is ordered for another subscriber written off?
The melody order for another subscriber is paid for by the subscriber who has made the order. Money is written off from the balance of the subscriber after the melody order. Melody addition to the personal list of your friends happens after receiving a confirmation of their consent to accept a present.
- From what account is the cost of the melody which is ordered for two subscribers written off?
The order of the melody for two subscribers is paid for by the subscriber who has made the order. Money is written off from the balance of the subscriber after the order registration. Thus the melody will be added at once to the personal list of the subscriber who has ordered it and to the personal list of another subscriber after receiving a confirmation.
- Whether a melody plays if the subscriber is in roaming?
Yes, it does.
- Whether subscriber fee is charged if the subscriber does not order melodies?
Yes, it is. Subscriber fee for the service is charged from the moment of its activation till the moment of deactivation of the service.
- When does an outgoing call start to be paid if the subscriber called to has the Melofon service activated?
An outgoing call starts to be paid from the moment when the called subscriber answers the call. The subscriber-initiator of the call does not pay the time when the melody is playing.
- What will happen if the Melofon service is deactivated?
In this case you will not have the possibility of using the service. However your profile (the settings of the service and melodies from the personal list) will be saved in a database of the service within 30 days. During this term you can restore your profile having activated the service again. Thus melodies ordered before will be also restored in the personal list subject to the term of validity at the moment of the service deactivation.
